BIO

Teante Simmons, better known as Mardy Says is one half of the duo 'Speakerbox'. Heavily influenced by OutKast and 90's hip hop, Teante finds himself walking a fine line trying to balance those influential sounds and new era interests. Between writing, rapping, recording, engineering and producing; the job of a young artists is never complete.

Mardy began his Hip Hop journey in high school around age 14, and what started as notebook raps about pop culture and basketball, quickly turned into lunchroom cyphers and journals of poetry. After reuniting with his childhood friend Cody Dixon, better known as Slim S.O.U.L during their Freshman year of college, the two began their next chapter as the duo 'Speakerbox'.

The duo went on a 4 year run dropping bangers over the span of 4 projects and a few loosies. The culmination of working at Awendaw Green and building an extensive network of artist resulted in the founding of 'Soul Power Productions'.

A couple projects and extensive breaks later, Mardy Says finds himself back in the mix and ready to pick up where he left off.
